Speaker - company and satire organization that publishes articles on international, national, and local news.
Occasion - President Barack Obama and South Korean President Park Geun-hye meeting Audience - President Obama bigots or Obama's lovers Purpose - To provoke or help justify Obama lovers or bigots. Subject - Obama and a White Stallion, Obama's lust for the horse Tone - Satirical, of course, and uses words such as "staring into the creature’s calm, gleaming eyes" to indicate the contrast Obama's serious Ora versus the one portrayed in the story. They use imagery and an appeal to pathos to make his point. He uses an appeal to pathos by appealing to the satirical humor of the Onion's targeted audience. If a casual person were to read this or stumble across it on Facebook perhaps they might think it was true. If they did not know about the Onion's history or their credibility they would believe it to be true. Imagery is used by applying a narrative, detailing each scene with complex sentences and descriptive words for Obama and the Stallion. These rhetorical strategies makes it seem like the author was there or like they were watching it themselves. |
