Charles M. Blow is a well known columnist for his opinionated words on politics and social justice issues. Leading newspapers to three best in show awards and one of the most influential people of our time, Blow is truly innovative and respected journalist.
Born on August 11, 1970 in Gibsland, Louisiana he discovered his passion through his mother and teachers around him to later on graduate from Grambling State University with his B.A. degree in communications. While interning at the New York Times he became editor in chief of the student newspaper. After graduating Blow was hired as a graphic artist for The Detroit News. Then joined The New York Times in 1994 as a graphics editor and then was promoted as the paper's graphics director. He held the position for nine years and was later assigned as the design director. Then Blow left in 2006 to pursue a job as the Art Director for National Geographic magazine. When Blow returned to The New York Times, he was named the paper’s first visual op-ed columnist. Blow has appeared as an CNN commentator, and appeared on MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, the BBC, Al Jazeera, and HBO. Blow's book entitled Fire Shut Up in My Bones is a memoir dedicated to his childhood in Louisiana and all of the monsters of his past that he overcame. |
