Follow the Columnist #4Race Relations Out at Republican Debates 9/17/15 |
Speaker - Charles M. Blow; known for politics, public opinion, very Democratic views
Occasion - Republican GOP Debate on September 16, 2015 Audience - People interested in politics, Democrats Purpose - To discredit the Republican party for not talking about one of the American people's top three issue in America Subject - Republicans discussing Racism in America, especially #BlackLivesMatter Tone - Disgruntled, sarcastic, using words such as "sloppy", "undeserved", and "disproportionate" to express his discontent from listening to the Republicans speak during the debate. He describes them as undeserving and their coverage disproportionate to point out how politics is ruled in favor of who can spend money on campaigning. Purpose The purpose of Blow is to discredit the Republican party and how they beated around the bush about racism, even though it is one of America's main issues. He discredits them by calling out Jeb Bush's campaign which featured Bush's optimism about the future of America, yet included images from England and Asia. He calls Jeb Bush out for answering with a British woman, not an American when he was asked about what woman should be featured on the $10 bill. The main goal is to inform the audience of the Republican party's inconsistencies and lack of knowledge of what the American people want and care about. This position is to promote the Democratic position on these issues such as race and gender equality. Blow wants to use the dis-credibility of the Republican party to make a mockery and promote others who do not affiliate with a political party to vote Democrat. |
