Speaker - Charles M. Blow; known for politics, public opinion, very Democratic views
Occasion - Republican GOP Debate on September 16, 2015 Audience - People interested in politics, Carly Fiorina supporters Purpose - To discredit Carly Fiorina's potential at becoming the next president Subject - Carly Fiorina's praise from the Republican media Tone - Mocking and sarcastic, it's almost as if Blow is laughing at Fiorina's opinions and actions. He uses "scurrilous" to describe her attack on Planned Parenthood. Argument Blow constructs his argument by using quotes and the views from the Republican media. He then uses data from the Washington Post on a poll about whether or not people would like to have a president that is someone from outside of an existing political establishment. He then ends his argument by asking rhetorical questions after stating her opinions on controversial topics to provoke the reader into actually thinking "what if". Blow's argument is strong in using other sources and hyperlinking them. He discredits Fiorina's credibility by adding onto his own. |
